The Process

1.  The next of kin will complete the cremation arrangements online and email them to: care@adirectcremation.com  or fax them to: 1-877-867-1436.  Our staff will confirm all documentation and call the next of kin to confirm the credit card charges for payment of services.

2.  Our staff will take the decedent into our care from a hospital or coroner’s office within the counties listed on the website during normal business hours. If the death has occurred at a residence or nursing facility we will bring them into our care immediately.

The decedent will immediately be placed in a cremation container and be sheltered in a climate controlled facility at one of our two licensed facilities in San Mateo or San Joaquin County.

3.  Our staff will record the death of the decedent in the county where the death occurred and a permit will be issued by the state to approve the cremation.

4.  Our staff will place the cremated remains in a utility urn, or an urn of your choice available on our website under Urn Selection.  We will arrange for the next of kin to pick up the cremated remains from one of six licensed facilities to which we have access:  Redwood City, San Jose, San Francisco, Oakland, Brentwood and Stockton.  The cremated remains can be mailed to the next of kin for an additional fee.  Please be aware that some urn selections can not be mailed and must be picked up in person from one of six licensed facilities.
